Luvia

Luvia is a municipality south-west of the Finland, in the province of Western Finland and the area of the Satakunta.

The commune is of small size, broadside in the west by the Gulf of Bothnia. The east coast low and rock, very cut out with tens of islands. The overall length of the east coast of 158 km.

The relief is practically absent. Almost the whole of the commune was still at the sea-bed 2.000 years ago and left there only by the effect of the Isostasie.

The community experienced an important development at the 19th century, with in particular a shipyard. The municipality was only founded in 1870.

One finds there 3 curiosities tourist relatively minor: a Phare builds in 1873 on the island isolated from Säppi, a church in sandstone (Josef Stenbäck 1908 - 1910) and small a écomusée open in 1969.

The village center is crossed by main road 8, to 19 km in the south of the regional capital Pori. Turku is to 122 km, Tampere to 130 and Helsinki to 247. In addition to Pori in north, the close municipalities are Nakkila in the east and Eurajoki in the south.
