The Lutétien is a stage of the Eocene (Tertiaire) which extends from 48,6 with 40,4  My. Its name is a reference to Lutèce (Latin name of Paris).

This period is very rich in marine invertebrates in the Paris basin (mainly of molluscs, corals, sea urchins).
