Lungtok Gyatso (18051815) is the 9th Dalaï Lama (Tibetan: ལུང ་ རྟོགས ་ རྒྱ ་ མཚོ ་, Wylie: Lung-rtogs rgya-mtsho).

Lungtok Gyatso was born in 1805 with daN Chokhor, a small village of the Kham of Tenzin Choekyong and Dhondup Dolma. In 1807, it was recognized like the reincarnation of the 8th Dalaï Lama and was escorted with Lhassa in great ceremony. In 1810, it was established with the Palate of the Potala. It received its wishes of monk beginner of the 7th Panchen LAMA, Palden Tenpai Nyima, which gave him the name Lungtok Gyatso. Unfortunately, he died in 1815 with very young age the 9 years.

the English explorer Thomas Manning (1772-1840), which reached Lhassa in 1812, described its meeting with the 9th Dalaï Lama, old then seven years, in terms rhapsodic. " The beautiful one and attractive face of the LAMA absorbed all my attention" , Manning wrote. " It had simple manners and without assignment of a child well educated prince. I think that its face was affectieusement beautiful. It was of a merry and happy provision. I was extremely affected by this discussion with the LAMA. I could have cried by the strangeness of this feeling.
