Luna 8
Luna 8 (also called Lunik 8 or Object 01810 ) was the eighth Soviet probe of the Programme Luna.
The probe Luna 8 was probably launched with an aim of carrying out a landing controlled on the lunar ground. Unfortunately, the retrorockets started too late involving the impact of the probe on lunar surface in Oceanus Procellarum (Ocean of the storms). The mission made it possible nevertheless to validate the development of a certain number of equipment such stellar orientation system as well as control since the ground of the equipment radios, of the trajectory as well as other instruments.
