Lumigny-Nesles-Ormeaux

Lumigny-Nesles-Ormeaux is a common French, located in the department of Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.

Its inhabitants is called Luminiciens (Lumigny) Neslois (Nesles).

Geography

This commune is located at the east of the capital at a distance of about fifty kilometers. One reaches it either by the highway A4 then the RD 231 direction Provins, or by the Nationale 4. It is extended from the Canton of Rozay-in-Brie. The majority of the territory is occupied by arable lands. A part is wooded (south of the forest of Crécy, wood of Lumigny). The coordinates longitude, latitude, altitudes are those of Lumigny (ridges of Lumigny=138 m).

The Yerres takes its source with a few kilometers in the north of the pond of Guérande located at orée of the forest of Crécy. Its first course is the Ru of the Small towers which receives small rus. It takes its name of Yerres only starting from its exit of the pond of Guérande. After having crossed the neighbouring communes of Pézarches and Touquin it penetrates in the commune of Lumigny-Nesles-Ormeaux and form the limit with the common neighbor of Voinsles.

Three hikes different lengths make it possible to visit one or the other of the three common partners.

History

The commune of Lumigny-Nesles-Ormeaux results from association, on January 1st, 1973, of the three old communes of Lumigny, Nesles-la-Gilberde and Ormeaux. Lumigny is the chief town and Nesles and Ormeaux have each one a city hall annex.

Inside the church Saint-Pierre (1882-1884) one can admire a statue hones some representing a Virgin with the child (14th century. M.H, an oil on fabric (holy Claire.M.H 1957) and ten large stained glasses historiés in the honor of the family of Mun.
  • Nesles-la-Gilberde
The Notre-Dame church of the Assumption (after the 12th century and modified on several occasions) is located at the end of the village with orée of the fields. Under the porch of entry a door out of painted wooden is and inside the church a Romance gate of the 12th century. The bell goes back to 1624. A carved stone representing the grill of the martyrdom of SAINT LAURENT is integrated in the gate of the farm located on the left of the church, vestige of the old priory Benedictine auprès whose the church was built.
  • Ormeaux
The Saint-Pierre church (after the 13th century) several times altered, would be only the side of the building of origin. Several statues are visible inside: a Virgin with the child (15th century. Wood and polychrome plaster), a Pierre saint (. Polychrome Pierre) and a saint Maclou (15th century. Wood and polychrome plaster). One reaches the bell-tower by a covered external staircase. The bell goes back to 1765.
