Luigi Gaggero

Born with Genoa in 1976, Luigi Gaggero studies the percussion with Andrea Pestalozza in Genoa and the Cymbalum with Márta Fábián with Budapest. In 2000, it integrates the Hochschule für Musik Hans Eisler of Berlin where it improves near Edgar Guggeis and Rainer Seegers and it obtains brilliantly a first price (Konzertexamen).

As a cymbalist, it occurs as soloist and chambrist in all Europe and it collaborates in various whole of music of today (Hangs Note, Itinéraire, MusikFabrik, Scharoun, Contrechamps, Oriol), and of many orchestras (the Philharmonic ones of Berlin or Munich, the national Symphony orchestra of Berlin, the Orchestra of the Theater the Currency of Brussels or Sinfoniorchester of the SWR Freiburg) under the direction of Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös, Kent Nagano, Riccardo Muti, Zoltán Peskó or Simon Rattle.

As soloist, he played inter alia with the Sinfonieorchester orchestra of the NDR Hamburg, Filarmonisch Orkest Hilversum, Münchner Kammerorchester, Orchester der Komischen Oper Berlin. He created parts of Luca Antignani, Ivan Fedele, Luca Francesconi, Stefano Gervasoni, Konstantia Gourzi, Mauro Lanza and Alessandro Solbiati. He is prize winner 2000 and 2002 of the Prix Hanns-Eisler for the interpretation of modern music.

Since 2004 he is professor of cymbalum to the Conservatoire of Strasbourg.
