Luigi Cherubini

Maria Luigi Carlo Zenobio Salvatore Cherubini , more known under the name of Luigi Cherubini , is a Compositeur Italy N, born the September 14th 1760 with Florence, dead the March 15th 1842 with Paris.

Biography

Wire of famous a Harpsichord ist, he studies with Bologna in 1778, then with Milan, of 1778 with 1782, under the direction of Giuseppe Sarti. In 1816, he becomes superintendent of the Vault of Louis XVIII.

It finds the Academy, where it exerts as professor of composition, before being named about it director in 1822. It preserves this function during twenty years and gives up it only a few weeks before its death. It contributed much to raise the quality of the whole of the formation. It was active in the organization of public demonstrations pupils, like the exercises of music and dramatic art. It also allowed the birth of the Société in the Concerts of the Academy. He was also freemason, member of the Midsummer's Day cabin of Palestine of the Grand the East of France.

Its death gave place to national funeral, during which was played its Requiem in minor D . Cherubini rests with the Cimetière of the Father-Lachaise (division 11, section VII). Its tomb was designed by the architect Achille Leclère and includes in particular a bust of the type-setter, surmounted of a group carved of Augustin Dumont representative the Music .
