Lugano

Lugano is the ninth Ville of Switzerland and is located in the Canton of Tessin, chief town of the district of Lugano.

The city is located on northern bank of the Lac of Lugano, between the Lake Maggiore and the Lac of Like.

The currency of its flag Vera Giustizia Antica .

With the absorption of eight communes bordering in 2004 (Davesco-Soragno, Pambio-Noranco, Cureggia, Breganzona, Gandria, Pazzallo, Pregassona, Viganello), the commune of Lugano saw its population almost doubling and reaching 48.800 inhabitants. Ninth town of Suisse by its population it is more the big city of Tessin. Its agglomeration counts approximately 130.000 inhabitants.

Lugano is the 3rd Swiss money market and, thanks to its climate and with its luxuriant vegetation, an important tourist center.

Culture

The town of Lugano has many museums including one prestigious museum of Modern art presenting exposures of the artists of the 20th century.

For a long time took place in Lugano a jazz festival, which little by little was made eclipse by the Jazz festival of Montreux. The first Concours Eurovision of the Song was held in Lugano in 1956.
