Lugaid Mac Idiot Roí
Lugaid Mac Idiot Roí , in the Irish Celtic Mythology, is a warrior of the Cycle of Ulster , he is one of those which caused the death of the champion of the kingdom of Ulster, Cúchulainn. It is sometimes called Lugaid Mac Trí Con , i.e. the “wire of the three gun dogs”. He is the son of Cú Roí Mac Dáire, king of the Munster, killed by Cúchulainn for the love of Blathnat.
Handled by Medb, the queen of the Connaught, Lugaid Mac Con Roí is determined to avenge death for his/her father. After a visit with his/her mother Deichtire, Cúchulainn, carried out by its Lóeg coachman, arrives at a ford whose guardian washes the ensanglanté linen of the hero, which predicts its nearest death. Passing the ford, it arrives in the plain of Muirthemné, where its enemies wait. The battle begins and Cúchulainn made a true massacre, killing out of many warriors. After seven hours of combat, Lugaid Mac Con Roí projects a lance magic which misses its goal, but keep silent Lóeg. One second lance reaches the hero of Ulster and a third transpierces it. Retaining its entrails in its opened belly, it will be washed with the brook then will lean against a Menhir, in order to die upright. Morrigan, under the appearance of a corbel, comes to be posed on its shoulder at the time when he dies. Lugaid Mac Idiot Roí, comes then to cut the head to him, according to the warlike ritual, but the sword of dead falls down and the hand crosses to him.
Conall Cernach continues it and starts the combat to avenge death for Cúchulainn. As its enemy had a hand in less, it fights with an arm sunken in its belt, it manages to kill it and decapitates it. Conall poses the head on a stone, but blood dissolves it and the head is inserted in the rock.
