Lugagnan

Lugagnan is a common French, located in the department of the Hautes-Pyrénées and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

Geography

Small commune located at the joint of the valley of Castelloubon and the valley of Gaves, on Right Bank of Gave of Pau, with 3 km in the south of Doors. It is also crossed by Born, torrent going down in the valley from Castelloubon and jettant themselves in Gave of Pau with Lugagnan.

The surface of Lugagnan is one of weakest villages neighborhood, offering few cultivable grounds and grazing grounds. These last are mainly inclined, except some at the edge of Gave or of the Born ones.

The center of the village is located on a small plate on the sides of Bédat. Low, at the edge of the rivers and at the foot of the salte quarries, are located more recent constructions.

The village comprises several salte quarries, which were formerly its independent source of activities.

Lugagnan shelters people working in common the close relations like Lourdes, Tarbes or Argelès-Gazost, but also a certain number of craftsmen, tourist trade and of proximity whose head office is in the commune.

Small place of the village with its Church with wall-belfry of the 18th century.

Salte quarries now unused but whose remains of exploitation are very visible.
