Luette

The luette or uvule is a conical appendix located at the bottom of the oral cavity. It is free and pendouille with the average part of the lower edge of the Velum. It consists of a membranous fabric and muscular from approximately 10 to 15 millimetres length.

Its name uvule come from the Latin uva which means “grape”.

The luette plays a big role in the Déglutition and the Respiration by closing the Pharynx.

Pathology

An abnormal length of the luette can be likely to involve Ronflement S and to require a uvulo-palato-plastie (surgical operation on the luette and the palate) or Uvulectomie.

The Uvulite corresponds to the ignition of the luette.
