Ludwigshafen
Ludwigshafen (the wearing of Louis ) is a German city and a district, located close to the the Rhine, in the Land of the Rhineland-Palatinat.
It is next to the town of Mannheim, from which it is separated by the river.
Ludwigshafen counts 163.574 inhabitants (at October 31st, 2005) on a surface of 77,6 km ².
Economy
Ludwigshafen and Mannheim are famous for their speciality in economy. Moreover, it is about the cradle of the more chemical large company of the world, BASF (its site of Ludwighafen is spread out over 10 square kilometers, and is the largest integrated chemical plant of the world). In Ludwigshafen are several chemical industries, mechanics, of glassmaking and metallurgy of aluminum.
Policy
Helmut Kohl was born the April 3rd 1930 in Ludwigshafen. He was the Minister-president of the Land of the Rhineland-Palatinat (1969 - 1976) and Chancelier in October 1982.
Teaching
Ludwigshafen, in spite of its small size, counts also important schools such as the Fachhochschule of Ludwigshafen (university) like its die Ostasieninstitut.This university is very active and does not cease increasing while opening with the international one.
An establishment of secondary education bears the name of Max-Planck Gymnasium .
