Ludwigsau
Ludwigsau is a municipality of Germany in the North-East of the Hesse in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg. It is with 112 km ² the greatest municipality of Hesse.
Geography
Situation
The municipality holds with the Fulda (river) in the urban triangle of Bad Hersfeld, Bebra and Rotenburg year der Fulda.

history
The granting of the name refers to the count of the Land Ludwig I of Hesse, which established in the current sector of the municipality, two castles - Schloss Ludwigseck and Burg Ludwigsaue (construction in 1416) -. Of the second castle, there do not exist any more traces, there was located at the mouth of Rohrbaches on Fulda.

escutcheon
Blasonnement: The escutcheon is divided into diagonal with a line of vague double blue. In top on the right on money, a red castle and in bottom on the left on the money a wheel of moulin-Rouge. Importance: The 13 shovels of the wheel of mill are for the quarters of the municipality and the castle represents " Schloss Ludwigseck". The line of vague double is for Fulda and Rohrbach.
