Ludwig Purtscheller
Ludwig Purtscheller (* October 6th 1849 with In; † March 3rd 1900 with Bern) was a Alpiniste and Austrian professor. Purtscheller since 1895 was married with Hedwig von Helmreichen, which died in 1941 with Salzburg. They had a girl.
Life
Purtscheller carried out many first rises without guide. At its time, it passed for one of the best experts of the the Alps, of which it climbed more than 1.700 tops.
With the brothers Emil and Otto Zsigmondy, it made a success of in 1885 the first whole crossing of Meije (Dauphiné). With the two Zsigmondy brothers, it had before overcome without guide several other tops of which the Petit Zinne, the Ortler, the Eastern face of the Mont Pink and the face southern of the Bietschhorn and crossed the Cervin. With Johann Punz of Ramsau it carried out the June 12th 1885 the second crossing of the Eastern face of the Watzmann.
The October 6th 1889, at the time of their second attempt, Purtscheller and Hans Meyer reached the top of the Kilimandjaro. In 1891, it carried out a forwarding in the the Caucasus with Gottfried Merzbacher and them guides Kerer and Unterweser (Elbrouz).
Purtscheller died of the continuations of a fall in the Aiguille of Thickly the (Massive of the Mont Blanc).
