Ludwig Claisen

Ludwig To groove Claisen (born 2 or on January 14th 1851 with Cologne; died on January 5th 1930 with Godesberg, today Bonn), was a German chemist.

He studied of 1869 to 1874 sciences at the universities of Bonn and Göttingen. After obtaining sound Doctorate, he was assistant of August Kekulé and passed his enabling in 1878. For a few years, it left to the Owens College Manchester and finally with he was collaborator of Adolf von Baeyer with Munich. He left in 1890 to Aachen, 1897 with Kiel, and finally in 1904 with Berlin.

In 1881, he discovered the condensation of Claisen which bears its name still today. Certain instruments of laboratory which it developed are still used today. Whereas it was with the retirement, it discovered the rearrangement of Claisen , where a allyl vinyl ether gives an unsaturated carbonyl.
