Ludwig Binswanger

Ludwig Binswanger is a Psychiatre Suisse, born on April 13rd, 1881 with Kreuzlingen and dead on February 5th, 1966 in the same city.

After having met the psychoanalysis through the team of the Burghölzli in Zurich directed by Eugen Bleuler, in 1897, via Jung, it meets Sigmund Freud with which it will keep a bond and a correspondence. It will be diverted however more and more psychoanalysis to create the Daseinsanalyse inspired primarily by the Phénoménologie of Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger.

In contact with its phenomenologic readings, Binswanger moves away from the psychoanalysis and inaugurates in the years 1930 a new therapeutic method. It is on September 22nd, 1950, with the first international congress of psychiatry at this meeting in Paris that it presents it under the name of Daseinsanalyse. Later, this title will be translated into French by the expression " existentielle" analyzes;.

In phenomenology, Binswanger finds the means of mitigating the epistemological difficulties which he believed detected in the psychoanalysis freudienne, which remains according to him captive of the homo will natura. In Center und Zeit , Binswanger finds with the concept of being-with-world the means of breaking with the scission subject-object, which it taxes with " cancer of the psychiatrie" and which according to him still crosses the work of Freud. The reading of Sein und Zeit constitutes in the work of Binswanger one fundamental moment which will find to be incarnated, in 1952, in its major epistemological work: Grundformen und Erkenntnis menschlischen Daseins .

Until the end of the years 1950, Binswanger is claimed particularly of Heidegger, before returning to its Husserl Master, and perhaps through him with its Kantian readings. Melancholy and Manie in 1960 mark what criticisms call its " return to Husserl".
