Ludovico Manin

Ludovico Manin was the 120e and last Doge de Venise. It controlled 1789 with 1797. The invasion of the Napoleonean forces in 1797 forced it to abdicate.

Its family, originating in the Tuscan , had arrived in the the Friuli at the 14th century. She was registered with the patriarchate only since 1651. The majority of the elected doges were Venetian families much older, selected in the “Old Houses” or the “New Houses”, the first saying to go down from the families which had elected the first doge.

Ludovico Manin before was very elected by what it was one of the richest men of the République, and that reassured the patricians at one time when the Republic missed money.

He was elected on May 9th, 1789, abdicated on May 12th, 1797 and died on October 24th, 1802.
