Ludovic Lagarde

Ludovic Lagarde , born the September 20th 1962 with Paris, is a French director.

Biography

Formation

After theatrical studies with the faculty of Censier - Paris III of 1982 with 1985, Ludovic Lagarde is pupil actor at the School Théâtre in Acts directed by Lucien Marchal, of 1986 with 1989. Then it becomes assisting of the director Christian Schiaretti initially within his company, then with the Comédie of Rheims - National Dramatic Center where this last is named director in 1990.

First settings in scene

With the support of the Comedy of Rheims, and National scenes of Belfort and Calais, it carries out its first settings in scene. It is during this “first time” where it alternates the contemporary projects - Beckett, Schwajda - and the texts of the repertory - Courteline, Tchekhov -, which it makes the determining meetings of its course. With the writer Olivier Cadiot, it engages a trade-guild which will be marked by the creation of four texts and two translations. But also with actors of his generation, of which some, like Laurent Poitrenaux, remain collaborators essential to its projects. It is besides with him, for the creation of a text of Cadiot, which it carries out the setting in scene which will be the pivot of its course: the Colonel of the Zouaves in 1997. This project, which is the first carried out by the company founded on this occasion, marks a turning.

The company

Then begin a new time, that of work in company. It is surrounded then of a group of regular collaborators like, in particular, the choreographer Odile Duboc, the musicians Gilles Grand, David Bichindaritz and Rodolphe Burger, the painter Bernard Quesniaux, and of many actors of which Mireille Roussel. It puts in scene texts of Bertolt Brecht, Gertrude Stein and Edward Bond.

Its projects are produced and accommodated by the National theater of the Hill in Paris, the National theater of Strasbourg, by several National Dramatic Centers in areas - Rennes, Nancy, Rheims, Toulouse, Angers, and by the Festival of Avignon, where its company was accommodated, in 2004 for a residence of several months.

In parallel, it regularly carries out musical projects and since 2001 of the settings in scenes of opera, with, in particular, the leader Christophe Rousset.

Since 1997, its company developed bonds with artists and theaters in Europe like on the American continent, who gave place to international rounds, and settings in scenes, the Schaubühne of Berlin or to the Espace Go of Montreal. Projects are in hand with the National theater of Belgrade, the Festival delle Colline with Turin and the Theater 59E59 with New York.
