Lucius Valerius Publicola Potitus is the son of Lucius Valerius Potitus Volusus Publicola (consul into 483,470 before j-c) and the father of Caius Valerius Potitus Volusus (powerful orator military with consular capacity in 415,407,404 before j-c, consul in 410 before j-c) and of Lucius Valerius Potitus (military powerful orator with consular capacity in 414,406,403,401,398 before j-c, consul in 393 abdicates and 392 before j-c).
In 449 before j-c, he is consul. He would have been one of the promoters of the laws Valerias haratias, which restored the call to the people and the inviolability of the powerful orators and give the force of law to the plebiscites.
In Rome, according to Tite-Live, the government of the Decemviri, directed by tyrannical the Appius Claudius Sabinus, is reversed by the revolt of two armies combatant Sabins (revolt related to the legendary account of died of Verginia). The Plebs makes secession on Aventin and the Crowned Mount and claims the access to the consulate. Perhaps the insurrection leads to the official recognition by the state patrician of the Powerful orators of the plebs. Their capacity remains limited to the defense of the interests of the plebs. They are not allowed with the meetings of the Senate, which they observe of outside, with the door of the Curia.
