Lucien Visconti

Lucien Visconti , in Italian Luchino Visconti , born towards 1287 or 1292 and dead the January 24th 1349 with Milan, is a noble Italy N which was Co-lord of Milan of 1339 with 1349 with his/her brother Jean.

Biography

Fourth wire of the lord of Milan, Mathieu Ier and of Bonacosa Bori, it is devoted to the war and becomes Condottiere with his brother, the second, Marco. It is named lord of Pavia in 1315 at the age of 23 ans.
He marries, in 1316, Violating ( Yolande ), girl of Tomasso Ier (1244-96), marquis of Saluces, but finds himself widowed the following year without descendance.

It remarie, in 1318 with Caterina Spinola, girl of the gênois Oberto Spinola   ; they will not have either a descent and she will die about 1339.

In 1320, it becomes Podestat of Vigevano of which it will order, in 1341, the construction of the castle of the Rocca Vecchia , a fortress for prisoners on the road of Milan.

In 1323, it finds marked Hérésie by the pope, following the example members of his family.

In January 1339, Lucien Visconti demolishes his nephew Lodrisio Visconti with the battle of Parabiago.

It will be with the marriage, in 1339, with his third wife, Isabelle Fieschi known as Fosca (Dark) , girl of Carlo Fieschi, a captain gênois, lord of Savignone and nephew of the Pape Adrien V (1205-1276), which it will have a legitimate posterity.

The August 16th 1339, Azzon, lord of Milan, dies without posterity and the line of Galéas I {{er}}, the first wire of Mathieu Ier, dies out. The second, Marco, died without posterity, in 1329. Independently of the line of the fifth wire of Mathieu Ier, Etienne, died in 1337, the only male heirs to the stronghold of Milan are the third and the fourth wire, Jean and Lucien which thus become lords of Milan.
Jean will however leave in Lucien any latitude as for the government of the Milanese State.

Towards the end of the year 1339, Lucien seizes Pisa and Parma.

In July 1340, Mathieu, Galéas and Barnabe, nephews of Jean and Lucien, wire of their brother Etienne youngest child take part in the conspiracy carried out by Francesco Pusterla and some other noble. This conspiracy having been denounced, Lucien prevails against entreated but does not punish its nephews.

Against the sum of 500  000 guilders and in the absence of the emperor, the pope grants to the new Masters of Milan, in 1341, the vicariate which confirms them in their fonction.
In 1342, a papal bubble of Clément VI raises the charge of heresy which weighs on Lucien and his family.

Great man of war, in 1342, it takes Bellinzone with the Rusca family, appendix Locarno, Asti, Tortona, Alexandria, Alba like Cherasco following engagements against the Angevins and the Savoy.

In 1344, it undertakes a war against Pisa which finishes, in 1346, by the transfer of Parma by Obizzo III of Este, lord of Ferrare and Modena.

In 1346, the nephews conspire again against their uncles. This time, Lucien decides to move away them from Milan and condemns them to the exile. Mathieu leaves for the duchy Montferrat, Galéas travels in Palestine and in the Flandres and Barnabé makes a tour in Savoy, in the Flandres and in France, at the court of Philippe VI.

Lucien however has problematic relationship with his Isabelle wife although it gives him, this same year, two twins of which one, named Luchino Novello , survives. The alleged romantic escapades of Isabelle will be used as reason to the nephews to exclude Luchino Novello from its own succession and that from Jean in 1354.

Its last company is a war against the marquisat of Montferrat of Jean II Paleologist and the seigniory of Mantoue of Louis I {{er}} Gonzague, war which falls through because of its death.

Lucien dies the January 24th 1349 and his/her brother Jean succeeds to him.

Descent

From its third marriage with Isabelle Fieschi, were born two twin wire whose Luchino known as Novello (New) , born in 1346, which married Luisa, girl of the Doge de Gênes Gabriele Adorno and of Violating Giustiniani then, in 1372, Maddalena Strozzi and died in 1399.

Lucien also had two illegitimate children:

  • Brizio or Bruzio (NC-1356) which was lord of Tortona and Podestat of Lodi   ; man of war achieved, it made himself famous as a poet and was the friend of Pétrarque.
  • Borso.
