Lucien To combine It
Lucien To combine It (1909 - 1978) was a Canadian engineer who is known to have built the Métro of Montreal and aggrandissement of the islands Sainte-Hélène and Notre-Dame for Expo 67.
Born in the suburb the St. Lawrence, it makes its studies at the Frères of the Christian schools, the Collège Sainte-Marie of Montreal and the Université McGill, where it is graduate in Electronic engineering.
In 1935, it takes part in a three years project aiming at setting up the phone networks of Bell Canada. For Radio-Canada, it is used as regional engineer until in 1946.
Starting from 1946, it launches out in a main effort of modernization of the urban services of the town of Montreal, city for which it will occupy the position of director in 1954.
In 1961 begins the construction of the subway of Montreal. Whereas it supervises a building site of five thousand workmen, McGill does it science honorary doctor in 1964. The same year, it takes the head of the commission of transport of Montreal until its retirement in 1974.
After its death in 1978, a station of the subway, the subway station Lucien-To combine and a station of AMT, the Lucien-The station To combine, were named in its honor.
