Lucien Lacaze

Marie Lucien Lacaze , more known under the name of Lucien Lacaze and commonly called the admiral Lacaze , born the June 22nd 1860 with Pierrefonds (Oise) and died the March 23rd 1955, was a Admiral, senior official and Journaliste French.

Childhood and youth

Wire of a Doctor and a Creole downward of a naval officer, it passes its childhood to the Réunion in the paternal field located close to Saint-Denis. At the twelve years age, it returns to Metropolitan France to continue its studies at the Jésuite S of Sarlat.

Military career

Lucien Lacaze is received with the Naval college in 1879 and becomes Enseigne of vessel in 1882. Lieutenant in 1886, it is made Commander in 1902.

It makes countryside with the Senegal, the India S and the Tonkin before becoming attached naval to Rome then chief of staff of the admiral Germinet. It orders then the Cuirassé Masséna then is named chief of the cabinet of the Minister for the Marine of the government of Delcassé.

During the First World War, it orders a division of the squadron of the Mediterranean then is charged to organize the transport of a task force in the East.

French Academy

The admiral Lacaze was elected with the French Academy the November 12th 1936, in the armchair 40, succeeding Jules Cambon, was died the September 19th 1935. Its official reception took place the November 4th 1937. After its disappearance, the March 23rd 1955, it was replaced, the November 29th 1956, by Jacques Chastenet.

The admiral Lacaze had already stood as a candidate, in July of the same year, without success, with the same armchair. Its second attempt was crowned success, since which he was elected with the first turn.
