Lucien Dumais

Lucien Dumais alias Lucien Desbiens (1904 - June 10th 1993) is a Canadian soldier, member of the British secret services and chief of network of exfiltration Shelburn of allied pilots killed in France occupied during the Second world war which will allow the return in England of 307 aviators.

Biography

Québequois, originating in Montreal, it enters in 1934 to the regiment Mount-Royal Canadian-French of the Fusiliers. In 1937, it succeeds in integrating the Military academy of Midsummer's Day and it is then promoted corporal then sergeant in 1939 at the beginning of the Second world war. It embarks with its regiment for Iceland end June 1940 to be opposed to a possible German unloading. It leaves then for England or it follows a drive commando. In 1942, at 38 years, it is made prisoner by the Germans at the time of the Débarquement of Dieppe. He escapes from a train of prisoners a few hours later and helped by local resistance, succeeds in turning over in England via Marseilles and Gibraltar. It receives a formation of one 4 months duration old combat within the First British army in North Africa. He asked an assignment the MID 9, connects British SOE for the support for the resistance networks of the occupied countries, which were granted to him. He meets there Raymond Labrosse, 18 years, with which it received its training of spy. Ju-Jitsu with the apparatuses of radiocommunications, they underwent an intensive drive intended to prepare them with work in occupied France. They then will create a network charged to evacuate the allied pilots killed with the top of France by the English Channel, sees faster but more dangerous than the usual way by the Pyrenees.

In November 1943, transported by a Westland Lysander to 80 km in the north of Paris, they undertook their mission of locating and of providing for repatriation with the allied aviators. It is deceased in Montreal on June 10th, 1993 at the 88 years age.
