Lucian Blaga

Lucian Blaga is a Philosophe, Théologien and Poète Rumanian born in Lancram on May 9th 1895 and died in Cluj on May 6th 1961.

Very marked by its native Transylvania, Lucian Blaga, after having supported its thesis of doctorate in 1920 with Vienna, worked out during the the Thirties a Métaphysique of the Culture which is also a Métaphysique of the Inconscient. From the Rumanian Village regarded as neuralgic place of the catch of Conscience of oneself in osmosis with a Natural omnipresent, it is the style which, in its eyes, defines the fundamental character of the Culture.

Philosopher the Culture of the highest line, Blaga affirms that the space-time coordinates (the " horizons"), that also should be heard a sublimated direction, play a crucial role. Concerning the cultural identity of its country, in the middle of a debate which impassioned the spirits between the two wars, it is in particular what it names " space mioritique" (a concept resulting from the Mioritza ballade) which makes it possible to seize l" gasoline of the Rumanian spirit deeply marked by the idea of Destiny.

The Folk music Rumanian, to which a Georges Enesco will give his noble letters, attests some with glare: " the doïna expresses the Mélancolie of a heart which goes up and goes down on an indefinitely corrugated level aspiring to exceed the hill-obstacle that the fate draws up in front of it. Blaga, which had entered the diplomatic career in 1926, is successively in station with Warsaw, Prague, Vienna (1932), Bern and Lisbon (1938). Elected with the Rumanian Academy in 1937, then professor at the University of Cluj in 1940, it was a while short to the current Existentialiste and anti-rationalist of " Gândirea" (The Thought) which founded the " roumanité" in lived the Orthodoxe, but had ended up moving away some.
