Luca Ghini
Luca Ghini , born in 1490 with Imola and dead the May 4th 1566, is a Médecin and a Italian Botaniste .
He studies medicine at the university of Bologna. He makes appear his first Herbier in 1544 and founds, the same year, the Botanical garden of Pisa thanks to the support of Cosme I {{er}} of Médicis. He is titular pulpit of botany of Bologna, the second with being created after that of Venice.
Ghini does not leave any writing behind him but its influence is considerable on the botanists of its time. It is one of rare to be concerned with theoretical bases of botany. It is probably the inventor of the Herbier about 1520 or 1530. Its herbarium, which it quotes in its correspondence, gathered 300 different plants but was not preserved.
