Luc Ferry is a philosophical and former professor, born on January 1st 1951 with Colombes in the Hauts-de-Seine.

He is married with Marie-Caroline Becq de Fouquières and has 3 children (including 1, a girl called Gabrielle of its first marriage with Dominique Meunier).

He criticizes certain tendencies of the écologisme in his work the New ecological Order .

He was Minister for state education in France under the government of Jean-Pierre Raffarin between 2002 and 2004.

At the time of the conference of April 9th, 2005 in the Sorbonne, having for topic “Which is what the Philosophie? ”, it defines this one as a Sotériologie, i.e. doctrines of the hello. It is in that a competitor of the great religions. Philosophy is thus not only one reflection critical.

According to Ferry, a philosophy starts to be full and whole when it moves away from god. The more atheistic one philosophy is, the more it corresponds to the definition of philosophy.
