Luc Dietrich

Biography

Dietrich tells itself its childhood and its adolescence in a book published in 1935, “the Happiness of sad”, which was in string for the Prix Goncourt. In this book the author manages to extirpate himself of a certain emotional level to transcend the pathetic side of his life. With died of his father, it 'was old that of a few years. His/her mother, drug addict, poisoned, cannot always keep it. It ends up dying when his/her son is 18 years old. Meanwhile our young novelist is placed in old people's homes for weak children, or is placed like farm hand (in particular with Songeson in the Jura)

A meeting gives a turning to its life: Lanza del Vasto. The future founder of the community of the Arch , sitted on the same bench on the park Heap in Paris, asks him suddenly: “Are you good like this bread? ”. Lanza del Vasto will spend the hours at Luc to make him improve his books (in particular “the Training of the city”) but will refuse to be quoted as joint author.

Luc and Lanza divide all, even the women. The only thing which will separate them will be the appreciation of the teaching of a spiritual Master. Lanza will move away from there very quickly but he had also known Gandhi or Vinoba Bhave. Luc meets Philippe Lavastine who works at Denoël, and notammnent the poet Rene Daumal. He will follow an abundant correspondence.

Luc Dietrich had been initiated with photography by Papillon. He had carried out and published a collection of alive sound: “Ground” (Denoël). Another work had seems it disappeared, when Jean-Daniel Jolly-Monge, disciple of Lanza, exhumed and supplemented patiently this second work: it was published well after the death of these protagonists by the editions Time that it makes, “vegetable Emblems” (1993).

Luc Dietrich is upset by the death of Daumal. He decides to flee Paris to join on the face a doctor of his friends auprès of which he seems to find his place, equipped with a white blouse, energy of a casualty with another, exempting comforting words. Taken in a bombardment, it is touched indirectly with the foot, by stones. The evil does not seem so serious but it is of fragile health, it spent the years without residence, in closed down stations or not, perched in trees.

After gradually hemiplegic, being gangréné, it is taken in its turn in photograph (by Rene Zuber) on its bed of death, three months after the death of Rene Daumal.
