Lubricate

The grease is a greasy Substance presenting to the solid state with ordinary Température.
Le term is opposed to the Huile S which are presented in liquid form.
On distinguishes greases from the Cire S, of similar composition but which has a melting point higher than 45° C.

Chemical properties

Hydrophobia

Grease, like all the greasy substances does not mix with water (property called hydrophobia).
C' is on this phenomenon of repulsion that the process of the conventional offset is founded by creating an emulsion between the solution of damping and fatty ink.

However, in the Buddhist concept of the Rupa, grease is associated with the element water.

Dissolution of greases

To solubilize grease in water, a mediator should be used, that one calls a Détergent, to which belongbelong many intended products to the Hygiène. It is the case with the Savon which makes it possible to wash the hands fatty stains, Lessive making it possible to eliminate the Tache S on the linen or of the Liquide crockery which allows Nettoyer a pan.
Il is to be noted that the Saponification, the manufacture of the soap, is often done itself starting from greases. The company Procter & Gamble produces a grease Crisco made up of Plant oil. As for the Household soap, it is not produced exclusively starting from plant oils.

Solvent

Contrary, other substances sharing this property of hydrophobia with grease are soluble in the latter. Such is the case of some Vitamine S, some Pesticide S, certain perfumes of flower, certain heavy metals and Tétrahydrocannabinol (THC), made up credit of the cannabis.
Certaines people thus tested and tried to replace the water of the Pipe to water by fruit juice or alcohol to smoke of the cannabis, but this is not very an good idea since the THC is soluble in alcohol and greases, with the result that there is less in smoke. Other people prefer ebullient water when their pipe can resist heat.
Le sudan is coloring specific greases.

Physical properties

Grease is also used for its mechanical properties making it possible to avoid friction between the parts moving:

Grease is an heat insulator. When it was crushed in the plane above the Crimea, the German artist Joseph Beuys passes to be helped by nomads which covered it with felt and grease in order to protect it from the cold.

Biological properties

The biological grease of origin is a food. Its accumulation in the body forms an anatomical fabric.
