Luís Herrera Campíns
Luís Antonio Herrera Campíns (born the May 4th 1925 with Acarigua, Venezuela and dead the November 9th 2007 with Caracas, Venezuela), is a politician Venezuelan. He was president of the Republic of Venezuela between 1979 and 1984.
Member of the Christian social party COPEI, deputy, senator and president of the country; Rafael Caldera and was to him the two only representatives of this party to the president's function of Venezuela.
The government of Herrera made efforts in the fields of the culture and education. Its mandate is characterized by the inauguration from the Theater Teresa Carreño and the Subway from Caracas.
Economic measures were also taken under its government. They reflected the beginning of an important economic crisis resulting from the immense foreign debt that had left the former governments, and reduction supposed in the international reserves through the capital flight. Most known of these measurements the " took place; Friday noir" , February 18th 1983, during which one devaluated the currency from 4,10 to 15 bolívars for a dollar.
