Loznica , in Serb Cyrillic Лозница, is a city and a municipality of Serbia located in the district of Podrinje. In 2002, the city counted 19.863 inhabitants and the municipality of which it is center 86.413.
The town of Loznica is located on Right Bank of the Drina.
The Roman name of Loznica was AD Drinum and its current name derives from the word " loza" , " the vigne".
In the vicinity the thermal cities of Banja Badanja and Banja Koviljača are, whose water was already known in the time of the Romans.
In 2006, was discovered in the area an ore named Jadarite according to the rivère of the Jadar. The jadarite is a mineral of the family of the Silicate S. the jadarite has a chemical resemblance to the Kryptonite such as one describes it in film and the televised series Superman.
