Low kick

The low , known kick under the English denomination: low-kick , is a technique of leg used in some Boxes foot-fists (Burmese Boxe, Kick-boxing and Thai Muay) and some Martial arts which consists in carrying a blow of tibia or a Kick in the lower extremity of the adversary (thigh or leg). According to the sporting regulations, it can be carried outside or inside the leg.

In combat of Full-contact (known as with K.O system ), it makes it possible to weaken the stability of an adversary, to even handicap it temporarily.

As regards striking in the legs, different kicks coexists: circular (Roundhouse-kick), semicircular (Semi-circular), balanced (Stick-kick, Crescent-kick, axis-kick…), direct of kind swabbed (Face-kick and Side-kick), hooked (Hook-kick), falling down (Hammer-kick), etc

In Kick-boxing American or Japanese, this type of kick can be only circular or semicircular according to the payment.

In French Boxe or Slipper the low kick indicates very an other kick, that this low-kick since it corresponds in fact to low whipped; the low kick is given with the interior of the foot and is generally not given like a blow of percussion but being used to unbalance its adversary by removing one of its supports.
