The scenario was written by Erich Segal; it adapted it to write a novel which was a Best-seller before the exit of film itself.

A continuation was turned in 1978: Oliver' S Story

Erich Segal said that it had been based, for the character of Oliver, on the vice-president Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones which divided a room at the university of Harvard.

At does the end of the comedy One pack the bag, Doc.? (What' S Up, Doc.? - 1972) of Peter Bogdanovich, the character played by Barbra Streisand says “the love, it is not to have never to say that one is sorry”. Ryan O' Neal answers him " It is the stupidest thing which I never have entendue".
