Geography
Louvres is located in flat France, near the Aéroport Roissy-Charles-of-Gaulle (2 km) and to approximately 25 km in the North-East of Paris.
The commune is bordering on Goussainville, Puiseux-in-France, Marly-the-City, Villeron, and Chennevières-the-Louvres, Épiais-the-Louvres and Roissy-in-France.
The commune is served by a station the RER D.
History
The origin of the name of Louvres is surrounded by mystery. Perhaps it comes from the etymology Looswares or Loovra , of celto-Germanic origin meaning " wood of œuvre" , but it is not attested, not more than that of Leovar of the same origin and which means " fortifié" place;. Or perhaps also of high-German lauern who means to supervise, to watch for.
The existence of Louvres goes back to the Préhistoire since an occupation of the place is attested since with the Paléolithique superior. The village had a certain importance at the time Franque, several richly decorated aristocratic burials having been put at the day. Saint-Justin was martyrisé there. The presence of two churches side by side also indicates the importance of the place to the Moyen-âge and the Renaissance.
The staff of the Prussian armies occupied the castle in 1870. A American bomber B17 touched by German DCA exploded and was crushed on the railway close to Louvres the July 14th 1943.
The common one knew an important demographic and economic expansion since the Années 1970 following the opening of the Aéroport Roissy-Charles-of-Gaulle in the vicinity immediate. It however did not deteriorate extremely fortunately the old character of the borough.

Louvres belongs to the jurisdiction of authority of Gonesse, and great authority as well as trade of Pontoise.

Church Saint-Justin (- 19th centuries) The central part of the frontage is the oldest element of the building (fine 11th century), the gate with double splaying is surmounted of a bay, 3 naves of 5 spans of the 15th and 16th centuries covered with vaults to the varied drawings and veins complicated, hanging keys of which one (1550 approx.) of an exceptional width. To observe the 3 round pillars with capitals Rebirth between the Nave and the northern Side of the building as well as the baptismal font (16th century).inter-commune Museum of history and archeology in the bell-tower of the old Saint-Rieul church.
Rue of Milton This way oldest of the borough preserved its medieval aspect with its old paving, its terminals drive out-wheel and its old walls.
