Louise Therese de Montaignac

Louise Therese de Montaignac - (1820 - 1855) - Founder of the Congregation of the Oblates of the heart of Jesus.

Childhood

Louise Therese was born with the Havre on May 14th 1820 in a deeply Christian family. But it passed most of its life to Montlucon.

At the 7 years age, she contemplates the crib and discovers “ concerning mystery of God child, poor and suffering… ”. A little later, at the 13 years age, it made its first communion. It kept such an impression of it that 50 years later, it said, in the emotion of the memory: “ Since my first communion, I always remained under the divine action ”.

Vocation - Foundation

September 8th 1843, it makes offering of itself in the middle of Jesus, being made thus available to the divine love. She wished to enter to the Carmel so much she liked works of Sainte Therese d' Avila but a priest, who advised it, suggested to him directing his vocation elsewhere.

Thus Louise Therese decided Re to bring together Christian women, remaining in their medium of life, to be in the middle of the world “ pilot of the love of god ”.

For these Christian women gathered, Louise Therese wanted to create communities nun not support . Started from Montlucon, these communities extended in the diocese, then in France, finally, out of the borders.

These Oblates of the heart of Jesus, with the image of their founder, will be, as it was underlined by the Church, a “ model of a deeply lived faith and acting… luminous example, which lets foresee what a woman for the good of the Church can make”, having with their credit of many caritative works and orphanages.

Louise Therese lived in the physical suffering, an osseous disease having reached it at the 30 years age, limiting her displacements gradually, until the total immobility. She dies on June 27th 1885. Its body rests in the vault of the Green Cross with Montlucon

Beatification

It was béatifiée by the Pope Jean-Paul II in 1990.
