Louise Lecavalier
Louise Lecavalier , born in 1958 with Laval with the Canada, is a Danseuse and Canadian Chorégraphe of Contemporary dance, principal interpreter during years of choreographies of Edouard Lock within the troop Human Steps.
Louise Lecavalier received a formation of Ballet dancing and modern with Montreal and New York. At eighteen years, it joint with the group New Surface after a stay in the section “vocational school” of the company. It makes also a fast passage at Pointépiénu . In 1981, whereas the dancer is on the point of leaving for New York to follow courses of modern dance, the choreographer Edouard Lock, his colleague from Nouvelle Surface, offers to him to dance for his company.
As from this moment, it is associated with the company Human Steps and will take part closely in creations during 17 years, becoming the emblematic icon of the company which will become universally known. Its powerful, athletic technique and virtuoso are rather exceptional, mingling the dance on point with physical performances close to the lifting Danse or Gymnastique high level.
After this period of intense activity within Human Steps, it decides, with the turning years 2000, to become the specific interpreter of various choreographers such as Benoît Lachambre and Tedd Robinson. It also creates its own choreographies.
