Louise Attaque

Louise Attaque is a group of French Rock formed in 1994, originating in Paris, which the first album Louise Attaque left in April 1997.

History of the Group

At the origins, the group Caravage (1990-1994)

At the beginning, there was only Gaëtan Roussel and Robin Feix which met with the college of Montargis. Soon Alexandre Margraff joined them with its battery to form the rock group Caravage (name given in homage to the Italian painter Caravage). With David, the sound engineer, with the lead guitar, they know with the beginning of the year 1990 an immediate success: the cassette recorded in the cellar of Alexandre is sold with 8 specimens including 6 with the family. They then foam the bars, village halls and rural households during 4 years. But David leaves them by exchanging his guitar against a table of mixing. They then launch an advertisement in their studio of repetition to find a guitarist… In vain! A violonist presented himself to them, thus beginning the group.

The take-off of Louise Attaque (1994-2001)

It is in 1994, in Paris, that the group was born after being supplemented by Arnaud Samuel. The name, “ Louise Attaque ”, refers to Louise Michel, Anarchiste of the 19th century, and with the Violent Women, American rock group. The leader of Violent one Women, Gordon Gano, is their producer. Robin, who has a control of visual art, will deal with graphics. Marc Thonon, owner of the label Atmospheric , discovers them and a chance in its very recent “house of artists gives them”. Association Life Live in the Bar enables them to turn.

Their first album Louise Attaque leaves in 1997 and is sold to 2,5 million specimens, a record for an unknown French group. This album constitutes the fifth best sale of albums of all times in France. Louise Attaque is at the beginning a group of scene, completely been sulky by the radios. They give the proof that a group can succeed in being essential by the rounds and the word of mount and to find very many people apart from the guns of the media. Their round of 1998 remains in annals of the French rock'n'roll, and will be even immortalisée in a film.

The second album, As was said, leaves in 2000, and is sold with 700.000 specimens. The following year, used by the pressure and broken down of inspiration, the group decides to separate temporarily.

Bursting with the meeting (2001-2007)

Separation are born two new formations with side Tarmac, joining together Gaëtan Roussel and Arnaud Samuel, the singer and the violonist of Louise Attaque, and other side the formation Ali Dragon with Robin Feix and Alexandre Margraff, as well as other people.

After two years of separated road, the group finds and records a third album (under the direction of Plati Mark) left the September 5th 2005, and which names With later crocodile (literal translation of English See you later, Alligator , expression of the musicians jazz and blues American). They turn abroad, in Russia, India and South America. The first individual heading If it were yesterday left in June 2005. In November 2006 the group leaves a DVD Live and organizes a festival with Bercy with the Pig-headeds and Violent Women.

The return of the pause (2007-????)

Whereas the year 2007 was to be devoted to the development of a fourth album, the members of the group decide to give the group pauses about it (temporary or final, only they know, can be, the answer), and to devote themselves or collaborate to other projects:

Gaëtan Roussel, takes part in the writing of the next album of Alain Bashung which will leave in spring 2008.
Robin Feix and Gaëtan Roussel carried out the last album of TADPOLE which is entitled " Faire Avec" will be necessary;.
Robin Feix form with Anna, the singer of the TADPOLE group, the duet PONY EXPRESS TRAIN of which the first album: " Daisy Street" is planned for March 2008.
Arnaud Samuel plays of his violin on the album of BEN' BOP which will be soon available; he is also the Co-producer.
Arnaud Samuel, his violin and its guitar is in guest in the new album éponyme of the Déportivo which left on October 22nd, 2007.

The film

In 1998, Thierry Villeneuve carried out documentary recalling the round of Louise Attaque. The film left in 2001 in a restricted number of rooms. It is called Crachez your wishes like one of the songs of the group. The realizer followed the group for two months. He deciphers the daily life of a group which succeeded in selling two million albums in only a few months: the press, concerts always full, slides, a duet with Matthieu Chedid, another with Horned, the concert with the profit of Act Up, the interviews of the members and the public… If the film is well carried out, he pains to find his public. Too much intellectualized and not musical enough according to the fans, difficult to reach to the neophytes. He also suffered from his late arrival in the rooms (three years) due to a media overdose of Louise Attaque in 1998.
