Vice-admiral in 1639 or 1640. After the naval Battle of Orbitello, or perishes With a grid-Brézé that it was useful, it brings back the fleet to Brouage not to give it in state but to seize government of Brouage. He declares Gouverneur Brouage and of La Rochelle and is promoted Marshal of France in 1653 and is made duke by Louis XIV, which offers 530  to him; 000 delivers S in exchange of its tender.

It is one of the protagonists of the Fronde and in particular of the Ormée. After having made strengthened the towers of the La Rochelle, it flees to join the Prince de Condé with Bordeaux on arrival of the troops of the king Louis XIV carried out by Henri of Lorraine, count d' Harcourt.

In 1649, it imposes its association in the armament of the corsair Nicolas Gargot of Rochette, without running any risk, and monopolizes all the benefit. March 27th, 1651, its henchmen start a mutiny on board and take the control of the ship. The captain corsair is delivered to the Spanish , which imprisons it. On his return in France, Nicolas Gargot discovers that Louis of Foucault of Saint-Germain Beaupré dispossessed it of his share (242 000 pounds of benefit), and which it is ruined.
