Louis de Mornay

Louis de Mornay , born in 1619 with Paris and deceased on February 21st 1691 with Villarceaux, was marquis of Villarceaux. Wire of Pierre de Mornay and Anne Olivier de Leuville, his wife.

With died his father, he inherits many seigniories of which that of Villarceaux, located today in the Val-d'Oise. Captain-lieutenant of Horse-Light of Monseigneur the Dolphin, future Louis XIV and of the duke of Orleans, his brother, then it is named Capitaine of the Guards of the Dolphin. It enters thus the intimacy of the future monarch.

This soldier by family tradition is also a frightening seducer and a court gentleman, broken with the galanteries and the courteous manners. It is a free spirit, which will touch some time of the rigors of the Bastille to have allured a young virgin, at the request of a noble father, to have désepéré of the misconduct of his/her daughter.

Saint-Simon speaks about it like rich person discharged " doing much crash with the women… ". May 8th 1643, it marries Dame Denise of the Fountain of Esche, girl of Honor of the Queen Anne of Austria, much older than but having a handsome fortune to him.

In spite of Tallemant of Réaux which describes Mornay like " driving out a game which is neither of hair nor of feather… " , the king names it " Captain of the royal pack of the 70 current dogs for hunting for the fox and the lièvre". Louis very becomes a character for the Court like City. In 1652, its connection impassioned with Ninon de Lenclos will be the center of conversations of the living rooms of the Capital. It settles with the field of Villarceaux with its mistress, who is confined of a fore-mentioned son Louis. Mornay recognizes his/her son in front of notary in 1657. Comfortably equipped by his parents, the bastard young person receives the title of Knight of Boissière given by the king who will enlist it in the royal Navy, as officer. He will die in Toulon with nearly 80 years, to the evening of a brilliant military career.

Deceased in 1691, only and covered of debts, it was buried in the church Prieurale Sainte Marie-madeleine de Villarceaux. Its tomb was destroyed during the Révolution by the work started by the Lakanal mathematician who repurchased the monastery, sold like national good. With its death the branch disappears from Mornay de Villarceaux.
