Louis de Marillac
Louis de Marillac , count of Beaumont-the-Roger, is a Marshal of France born in 1572 and dead the May 10th 1632.
The rise
It made its first weapons under the king Henri IV and accepted after the catch of Amiens a company of one hundred light horses. The king did it ordinary gentleman of his room and second lieutenant of the company of men-at-arms of the Duc of Anjou.He was in 1611, sent in embassy in Savoy, with Mantoue, Florence and Venice, and five years later in Germany and Italy, to negotiate the peace of Loudun which was signed in 1616 by Marie de Médicis with the chiefs Protestants.
In 1617, the king Louis XIII did it general police chief of his camps and armies. Marillac was used in quality of Brigadier with the seat as Montauban where it was wounded in 1621 and took part in all the operations against the Huguenots of the Languedoc until the peace of Montpellier.
In great favor near Marie de Médicis, it was named captain of the men-at-arms of the queen, general Lieutenant of évêchés of Metz, Toul and Verdun and governor of this citadel.
It was distinguished in the war against the Protestants with the seats from the La Rochelle (where it gave its name to the one of the forts) and of Privas and with the catch of the Ile de Ré. In recognition of his services, the king raised it with the dignity of Marshal of France in 1629 and in Italy in 1630 in the capacity as general lieutenant sent it.
The plot
Marillac united with the plot the purpose of which was to move away Richelieu from the government. The cardinal thwarted this cabal and Marillac was stopped with its camp of Felizzo in Piedmont the October 30th 1630 by the marshal Schomberg, asked to notify the order of the king to him.
Brought back to Paris, he was condemned to died after eighteen months of procedure by judges chosen by Richelieu. He was decapitated in Place of Strike the May 10th 1632 and was buried in the church of the Breaking into leaf.
