Louis de France (1775-1844)

Louis Antoine d' Artois , duke of Angouleme, become Louis Antoine of France , dolphin of France, then Louis de France , “count de Marnes”, elder of the Capétiens and “chief of the House of France” under the name of “Louis XIX” (1836-1844).

Biography

Born the August 6th 1775 with Versailles, he is the oldest son of Charles X of France (1757-1836) and his wife Marie Therese of Sardinia (1756-1805), of the Maison of Savoy.

It is titrated with its birth duke of Angouleme by Louis XVI of France.

He emigrates on July 13rd, 1789 and joined the armed with Cop in 1792.

The June 10th 1799, it marries with the castle of Mittau (Russia) his/her German cousin Marie Therese de France (1778-1851), girl of Louis XVI.

From 1807, Monseigneur of Fare, bishop of Nancy, is given the responsability by Louis XVIII to pour to him, like with his/her brother Charles Ferdinand de Bourbon, duke of Berry, the important sums for the maintenance of its House, the pensions of the army of the princes and to ensure the subsistence of its compatriots. All the communications of the continent with the England were prohibited and the soldiers of the armed with Cop could not resort any more to London to touch British government there their food pensions. Monseigneur of Fare was charged to schedule and check the payment of these pensions on houses of Banque of Vienna. For and March April 1807 the payment was thus of 18.676,0 Livres tournaments is the sum of 149.408 Euros 2006.

It fights in Spain at the sides of Wellington in 1814.

With Donzère, during the Hundred Days, he claims the execution of the Convention of the Fen to Grouchy, which refers about it to Napoleon. On the express order of this last, Grouchy stops the duke and sends it to Sète.

In 1823 it led victorious the Expédition of Spain, which gained the battle of the Fort of Trocadéro, seized Cadiz and restored, as an absolute monarch, Ferdinand VII of Spain.

With the advent of his/her father Charles X in 1824 it becomes dolphin of France .

Following the riots known as of the “Glorious Three”, Charles X abdicates the August 2nd   1830 in favor of its grandson Henri d' Artois (1820-1883), abdication contresigned by Louis Antoine of France which states to give up its rights in favor of its nephew (according to White-Joséphine Bascle of Argenteuil in its Souvenirs , Charles X had evil to convince his/her son to sign). This abdication, opposite with the fundamental laws of the kingdom, is in any event without effects, because Louis Philippe of Orleans is made proclaim king of the French by the rooms the August 7th, and the royal family leaves for the exile the August 16th.

Then, with the death of his/her father with Göritz (Austria) the November 6th 1836, Louis Antoine of France becomes elder descendants of Hugues Capet, of holy Louis, Henri IV and Louis XIV. The legitimists then recognize it like king de France and of Navarre under the name of “Louis XIX”.

With its death in exile with Göritz (Austria; now Gorizia, in Italy) the June 3rd 1844, its nephew, Henri d' Artois (1820-1883) succeeds to him like elder of the Capétiens and “chief of the Maison of France” under the name of “Henri V”.

In exile, Louis de France carried the title of courtesy of “count de Marnes”.

He is buried with Nova Gorica, in Slovenia.

Louis XIX

Even if officially, this fact is only little evoked, one can consider that Louis XIX reigned well on the France. Indeed, when Charles X sign his abdication the August 2nd 1830, his/her son signs the act of renouncement of the crown: however between the moment of the abdication of his/her father and the signature of his act of renouncement, twenty minutes were passed during which he was officially Louis XIX. According to a chronicler of the time, he would have begged: " Let only reign to me a heure". One answered him then " You? Surely not! "
