Louis Jacques Marie Colin of the Scrap-metal , known as Louis Verneuil , born with Paris on May 14th 1893, dead on November 3rd 1952 is an actor, realizer and dramatic author French. It signed only thirty-eight plays and twenty-five others in collaboration with Georges Berr.
Today completely forgotten, Louis Verneuil was in the Thirties one of the kings of the Boulevard, as often with the poster as Sacha Guitry; one of the champions, with Marcel Pagnol, of the filmed theater. It signed only thirty-eight parts and twenty-five others in collaboration with Georges Berr. Among most famous: " To have Adrienne" , " The armchair 47" , " Azaïs" , " Bolbec Master and his mari" all become of films, just as " My cousin of Varsovie" , " The lover of Mrs Vidal, " A woman ravie" , with its interpreter fetish volcanic Elvire Popesco. " The Nemo" bank; , another film drawn from another of its parts, was victim of the censure in 1934. " Mr Lamberthier" , played in nineteen countries, failed to be carried to the screen by Carl Dreyer; Alfred Hitchcock owes him the idea of " I confess" (the law of silence), and Clear Rene one of the lucky finds of " It happened tomorrow (It arrived tomorrow). Estimating that " until 1930, collaboration with Germany was desirable. Since 1933, it was foolish. In 1940, it became criminelle" , Louis Verneuil takes refuge in the United States where its success is not contradicted. In 1942, its royalties are confiscated by the German authorities, which banish its works in 1943. Louis Verneuil had established the edition of his complete theater in twelve volumes; four only are appeared, truffles of invaluable forewords. He also wrote " Marvellous life of Sarah Bernhardt" he was the son-in-law, and an extraordinary book of professional memories " Curtain with nine heures". Of return in France, it commits suicide. But which was thus Louis Verneuil? One day next, it will end well up leaving the unjust lapse of memory into which it fell. This approach is the first to be to him devoted.
