Louis V of France
Louis V dit' Lazy the (born towards 967 - died the May 22nd 987), king of the Francs. Louis V is the son of Lothaire and Emma. The brevity of its reign, during which it does not carry out anything extraordinary, is worth undoubtedly the nickname of Lazy to him.
Biography
In 982, with Brioude (Haute-Loire, between Clermont-Ferrand and Puy), his/her father makes him marry Adélaïde of Anjou which is almost twenty years old more than his/her son. Sister of Geoffroy Grisegonelle, Adelaide, so called White, is the girl of the count d' Anjou, Foulque II the Good. Already widowed by twice, she married first once the count de Brioude, Etienne de Gévaudan, then Raymond, count de Toulouse and duke of the Goths. This union is transitory: the too great difference in age and the vices of the young husband are the cause of their divorce later two years.Sunday of Pentecost June 8th 979, his/her Lothaire father associates it with the throne, and the fact of crowning with the Saint-Crow abbey of Compiegne by Adalbéron, archbishop of Rheims. His/her father deceased (on March 2nd, 986), Louis V, has only time to convene an assembly of Francs in Compiegne. This one must judge the archbishop of Rheims Aldalbéron, which supported Otton II in its quarrel against Lothaire. However, the meeting day before, Louis V die of a fall of horse at the time of a shooting party on the grounds of Hugues Capet in the Forêt of Cooks close to Compiegne. It is buried in the Abbaye Saint-Crow of Compiegne.
The assembly which meets in June following to Senlis chooses a new king by electing Hugues Capet, oldest son of Hugues Large the. Died without heir, Louis V is the last king of the line of the Carolingiens.
