Louis Touchagues
Louis Touchagues , born in 1893 with Saint-Cyr-with-Mount-in Or (the Rhone) and deceased the July 20th 1974 with Paris, was a painter, draftsman and decorator French.
Touchagues is able at Paris in 1923 to exert its trade of draftsman-illustrator in several illustrated newspapers ( alive Art , the New arts persons ) and satirists ( Crapouillot , the Hullabaloo ). He will be also parliamentary draftsman, delegated by the Art schools as draftsman to the first Conference of Peace like on arrival of the Général De Gaulle in Paris. He illustrates many books of Colette, Sacha Guitry, Marcel Achard, Marcel Aymé, Georges Duhamel and makes known himself through three albums ( Femmes and model , Parisian the and Vagues with St-Tropez ) like the draftsman of the woman.
As a painter, it will expose to the sides of Chagall, Dufy, Zadkine, and Marie Laurencin.
Its taste for decoration will carry out it to carry out decorations and stage costumes for his/her Lyons friends Henri Béraud and Marcel Achard, but also decorations on porcelain for Camille Tallec. He works in particular for Charles Dullin with the Workshop, and for Louis Jouvet with the Comédie-Française. Touchagues also will be the decorator and organizer of the great evenings.
Its great work will result from many murals and frescos for private individuals: frescos of the Vault of the Cindre Mount with Saint-Cyr-with-Mount-in Or close to Lyon, mobile ceiling at Lasserre, glasses painted for the canopies of the Museum of modern art of the Town of Paris. It also decorates the bar-smoking-room with the French Comedy.
