Louis Segond , born the October 3rd 1810 with Plainpalais (Geneva) French and dead parents the June 18th 1885 (?) with Geneva, is a Théologien Suisse which, at the request of the Company of the Pastors of Geneva, translated the Bible into French starting from the original texts Hebrew X and Greek S.

The translation of the Old Testament was published by stage and spread out on ten years, the complete collection is appeared in 1873 (with the date of 1874) with the Cherbuliez Editions. Concerning the New Testament the year 1878 is characterized by the publication of the Gospel of Matthieu, follow-up, the following year, by that of Jean. It is in 1880 that complete New Testament is born, also with the Cherbuliez Editions

Louis Segond did not want that of alive sound one touches with his translation, but it had stated that after its death, the editors could do what they would like. It is thus with its death in 1909 qu ' a revision of its work was considered, which led to the version of 1910.
