Louis Sachar
Mount-on-Marchienne (in Walloon Mount-dzeu-Mårciene ) is a section of the Belgian city of Charleroi located in Walloon region in the Province of Hainaut.
Mount-on-Marchienne was a commune of 14.300 inhabitants before the fusion of the communes of 1977. It is now about a beautiful green section in the South (hamlets) of the Brown Oak and the Hedges. North is probably a little less (locality “Sambre”).
It was about a commune with whole share before the fusion of the communes of 1977.
History
Recent excavations with the Lombot Hole, out of bank of the Eau of Hour attest human occupation of Mount-on-Marchienne since the Mesolithic .One finds trace of Mount-on-Marchienne as of the Moyen-âge where it was dependant on the Abbaye of Lobbes, itself belonging to the episcopal principality of Liege.
Culture
The Museum of photography is installed since 1987 to the 11 of the avenue Paul Pastur (Place of Essarts) in old the carmel.Mount-on-Marchienne with considering being born the sculptor Alphonse Darville in 1910. It worked there in its workshop of the street of Gonceries until in 1990. Its house, in Gadin, road of Bomerée, constitutes an example of architecture " Modernistic " of Marcel Leborgne. The poête Roger Desaise was his teacher.
