Louis Quilico
Louis Quilico Singer of opera (Baritone) Québécois born with Montreal the January 14th 1925, deceased with Toronto the July 15th 2000. His wife is the Pianiste in concert Christina Petrowska Quilico. He is the father of Gino Quilico also singer.
Career
He studied with Martial Singher with the Conservatoire of Montreal and the Mannes College with New York, then with Teresa Pediconi and Riccardo Stracciari with the Conservatoire Santa Cecilia with Rome. It is in 1954 that it made its professional beginnings with the Opera Guild of Montreal. The following year it made its New Yorkean beginnings with the New York City Opera, in Germont of Traviata . It took again the role in 1957 at the sides of the Soprano Beverly Sills. In 1958, it presents with Martial Singher, a production of the Large-Duchess of Gérolstein to the prestigious Town Hall of New York. In 1959, it incarnated the role titrates It Duca d' Alba with the Festival of Spolète.Thereafter, Louis Quilico was the guest of the majority of the large houses of opera to the the United States and in Europe. In 1987, with his/her son, Gino Quilico, it entered the history of the opera like the first tandem father/wire to be sung with the Metropolitan Opera.
It occurred with the largest singers such as the Ténor S Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Jon Vickers, Jose Carreras and the Soprano S Joan Sutherland, Renata Tebaldi, Renata Scotto and Beverly Sills. In the same way, it occurred with several large leaders, of which, James Levine, Zubin Mehta, Richard Bonynge and Claudio Abbado.
He sang for the last time the role of Rigoletto with the National center of arts of Ottawa, the September 17th 1994.
