Louis Pierre Martin , born on January 27th 1924 with Guingamp, and deceased in December 2005.

Biography

It is only twenty years old when it joined the French Forces of the interior. Sergeant, it is rewarded for its bravery by the Military Cross 1939-1945. At the end of the war, it enters to the Military academy interarmes.

Affected with the Foreign legion in April 1947, the lieutenant Martin joined as of 1948 the 13th half-brigade of Foreign legion in Indo-China where it takes the command of the 12th company of the 3rd Bataillon. It is quoted with the head of its unit.

It leaves Indo-China and the 13 in 1950 to join the 3rd foreign Battalion parachutists with Sétif in Tunisia. Patented monitor parachutist, it is then indicated to be used for the 1st BEP in Indo-China. It is distinguished then as a commander from the 3rd company.

November 21st, it jumps on Diên-Biên-Phû to the head of its unit. It will take part then in the totality of the seat and will be several times wounded at the time of the defense of the fortified camp.

Imprisoned with many comrades, it joined after his release the 1st BEP in Algérie. Ordering a company again, it is illustrated during many operations. In November 1956, it takes part in the operation “Musketeers” for the resumption of the Suez Canal then finds Algeria until August 1st 1958, date on which it is transferred to the Staff of the armies.

But “Spitz” Martin is a man of ground and it is with its request that it is again affected with the 1st REFERENCE MARK in 1959 with the rank of major.

Transferred in 1961 to the School of the air operations combined in Germany, it falls seriously sick. At its exit of the hospital, it is affected with the 126 {{E}} IH of Brive and it leaves the active service with its request on January 6th 1963.

Five times wounded, it ordering Martin, legendary figure of the legionaries parachutists, were made large officer Légion of honor in 2004. Holder of the Military Cross 1939-1945, of the Military Cross of the Theaters of external operations and the Cross of the military Value, it added up 14 quotations including eight with the order of the army, one with the order of the army corps, three with the order of division and two with the order of the brigade.
