Louis Napoleon Chaltin
Louis Napoleon Chaltin (1857 - 1933) was a Belgian officer . Born with Ixelles, it is named lieutenant in 1885. It arrives between at the service of the State independent of Congo (EIC) in 1891. In 1893, it is with the head of the camp of the Police force with Basoko, from where it leaves to take Riba Riba (close to current the Kindu) by going up the Lomami. Then it will raise the seat of the station of Stanley Falls (current Kisangani). It then will make safe the area of Dungu in the North-East of the terrritoire of the EIC (ordering district of the Haut-Uélé as from 1893).
End 1896, it leaves to occupy the Enclave of Lado, and reached Redjaf the February 14th 1897, the very same day where within the principal column the Révolte begins from Batetela.
He will die with Uccle in 1933.
He will leave his name to the Congolese locality of Aketi Port-Chaltin close to Kisangani.
