Louis Michaud

Louis Michaud , born the October 8th 1912 with Puteaux (Hauts-de-Seine), dead the November 15th 1991 with Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine), is a Politician French, member of MRP, appointed the Vendée of 1946 with 1967.

Biography and political career

His/her father, Armand, originating in the Pear-on-Life (the Vendée), had founded in Puteaux a company of frame and joinery in which Louis Michaud works starting from 1930.

Implied in catholic movements of youth, it devotes to the direction of the Christian independent Jeunesse as from October 1938. He will become member of the general committee of the catholic Association of French youth .

Mobilized the August 26th 1939, demobilized the August 8th 1940, it resumes its work in the family company. In August 1944, he is member of the committee of release of Puteaux. Member of MRP, it leads without success the list of the party to the municipal elections of May 1945.

In October 1945, Louis Michaud is candidate with the legislative elections in the department of the Vendée on the list of the MRP, without more success. Renewing its candidature in June 1946, it is elected on list MRP directed by Lionel de Tinguy of Pouët and between thus at the second constituent National Assembly. It sits there at the commission of the means of communication and postal and telecommunications authorities.

Re-elected in November 1946, he is Member of the Commissions of the means of communication, the rebuilding and the war damagees, and the merchant marine and fishings. As from January 1948, he is also Member of the Commission of the family, the population and the public health.

Re-elected in June 1951, Louis Michaud is Member of the Commission of state education and vice-president of the commission of the merchant marine and fishings. It also integrates the commission of justice and the legislation as from January 1953.

Representing the National Assembly within the higher commission of the mutual maritime credit, it is devoted to the maritime questions and writes several reports/ratios submitted to the commission of the merchant marine and fishings.

Re-elected in January 1956, it is named secretary of the National Assembly.

The November 23rd 1958, at the time of the elections of the first legislature of the Fifth Republic, Louis Michaud is elected in the third district of the Vendée (Sands of Olonne - Challans), by beating the candidate of the Indépendants and country Armand de Baudry d' Asson. He is re-elected in 1962, but he must incline in 1967 in front of the candidate UNR Pierre Mauger.
