Louis Léopold Boilly

Louis Léopold Boilly , born with Based the the July 5th 1761 and died in Paris the January 4th 1845, is a painter, draftsman and French, known engraver in particular for its scenes of Parisian life in the years which follow the Révolution.

Its life and its work

Resulting from a modest milieu and wire of a wood-carver, it is high with Douai until the seventeen years age, then it studies painting in Trompe-l'oeil with Arras near Dominique Doncre before being established in Paris in 1785. It is made knight of the Légion of honor and becomes member of the Institut of France in 1833. Its three sons, Julien Léopold (1796-1874), Edouard (1799-1854) and Alphonse Léopold (1801-1867), are also painters.
